Grade 5 titanium discs has been widely used in  industry to make electrodes in electrolytic industry, to make condensers in power stations, to produce heaters for oil refining and using at seawater desalination, environmental pollution control devices, etc.

Grade 5 titanium discs has become a corrosion resistant structural material. In addition, it is also used to produce hydrogen storage materials and shape memory alloys, with small density of titanium alloy discs, so the inertia of titanium liquid flow is small and the fluidity of molten titanium is poor, resulting in low flow rate. The casting temperature and mold temperature has a big difference (300 ℃) , and the cooling is fast. The casting is conducted in a protective atmosphere. It is inevitable that there are defects such as pores on the surface and inside of titanium alloy discs, which has a great impact on the quality of titanium alloy discs.
