Application 

1. Used to make vaporizers.
2. Do the electrode, rectifier, electrolytic capacitor of the tube.
3. Used in medicine to make thin sheets or thin threads to mend damaged tissue.
4. In the production of various inorganic acids in the equipment, tantalum can be used to replace stainless steel, the service life is dozens of times higher than stainless steel.
5. In chemical, electronic, electrical and other industries, tantalum can replace the tasks previously performed by the precious metal platinum, thus greatly reducing the cost.
6. Tantalum is made into capacitors for military equipment. 

Tantalum boards are almost all cold - processed. Generally, starting from tantalum ingot of 15 ~ 30cm, the slab is cold forged into about 8~10m thick, and then cold rolled from this slab, the compression rate can be more than 95%. In commercial production, slabs are usually rolled into 0.63 ~ 1.2cm thick slabs with a width of 51 ~ 102cm by two rolling mills or four rolling mills. Rolling is typically carried out at or near room temperature to prevent oxide formation on the surface. When hot rolling is needed, the temperature rises to 1000℃ due to recrystallization, and a fierce oxidation reaction occurs.

Almost all thick plates are heat-treated and annealed in vacuum. Since there is no metamorphosis, the rate of heating and cooling is not important. Further rolling is done with a plain mill, at which time a 4-roll mill and a multiple-roll mill are generally used. Because tantalum is very soft, care should be taken to prevent scratches during processing and transportation.
