Product catagories
1. Strip a product less than 0.1875 in. (4.75mm) thick and less than 24 in. (610mm) wide.
2. sheet a product less than 0.1875 inch (4.75mm) thick and 24 inches (610mm) or greater in width.
3. A product not less than 0.1875 inch (4.75mm) thick and not less than 10 inches (254mm) wide. With a width greater than 5 times the thickness, this specification applies to boards with a thickness not greater than 4.00 inches (101.60mm).
4. A round and flat bar with diameter or thickness from 0.1875 in. (4.76mm) to 4.00 in. (101.60mm) (other sizes and shapes are on special order).
5. Forging Bar
Bars produced by forging as described in 4 May be supplied in hot working form.
6. A circular, flat, or other shaped product less than 0.1875 in. (4.75mm) in diameter.
7. Other forms and shapes, including tubing, may be supplied in accordance with the agreement between buyer and supplier.
Mechanicl properties of annealed bars, wires and forgings
A material with diameter (D) or width (W) greater than or equal to 0.063in. (1.6mm) shall be measured with A 2in. Or 4D or 4W scale. Test results must be reported on the distance length.
The method for determining elongation of materials with diameters or thicknesses less than 0.063in. (1.6mm) may be ignored. As an alternative, the ISO 6892 related distance length may be used when the supplier and buyer agree. (5.65 times the square root of So, where So refers to the original cross-sectional area.)
The distance length shall be reported along with the elongation value. L = the longitudinal; LT= long transverse; ST= short landscape.
B for bars and forgings only. L = the longitudinal; LT= long transverse; ST= short landscape. For circular bars, the short and long transverse tests are the same, so only one transverse test is required.
Mechanical properties of annealed thin sheet, strip and thick sheet
For materials with a width (W) greater than or equal to 0.063in. (1.6mm), a 2in. Or 4W distance shall be used for elongation measurements. Test results must be reported on the distance length.
The method for determining the elongation of materials with thickness less than 0.063in. (1.6mm) can be ignored.
As an alternative, when suppliers and buyers negotiate an agreement, the ISO 6892 related distance length may be used. (5.65 times the square root of So, where So refers to the original cross-sectional area.)
The distance length shall be reported with the value of elongation 1 -.
L = the longitudinal; LT= long transverse; ST= short landscape.
B for thick plates only. L = the longitudinal; LT= long transverse; ST= short landscape.
C bending test is applicable to sheet and strip products.
DT is equal to the thickness of the bending sample. Refer to test method E290. The bending test is not applicable to materials with a thickness greater than 0.187in (4.75mm).
